Biography

As a 5th-year senior (2016): Named team captain...started 27 of 28 matches...posted six or more blocks in five contests...registered a .389 hitting percentage with nine kills and two blocks in win over Rider (8/26)...named to the Yale Invitational All-Tournament Team after posting a team-high .605 hitting percentage  and 1.25 blocks per set across the three games...hit a .727 clip (8-for-11) in the victory over Iona (9/2)...finished two shy of her career-best with eight blocks vs. Seton Hall (9/17)...led the team with five blocks at Illinois (9/24)...returned to the court after being sidelined due to injury and matched her season-high blocks total with eight against No. 4 Wisconsin (10/30)...posted eight kills and three blocks vs. Northwestern (11/26).

As a redshirt-junior (2015):Started 18 games ... finished first on the team with 1.07 blocks per set with a total of 61 blocks...named Academic All-Big Ten...led the team in blocks across the Santa Clara Tournament (Aug. 28-29), while finishing second on the squad in kills ... notched nine kills and four blocks in the win over UC Riverside (Aug. 29)...posted a season-high 13 kills in the match against Long Beach State (Sept. 5)...returned to action following injury and didn't miss a beat as she registered seven kills and tying her season-high six blocks in RU's victory over Maryland (Oct. 21)...re-set her season-high with seven blocks at Maryland (Oct. 24), as RU led UMD in the category, 17-12.5...tied for the team lead with five blocks at Iowa (Oct. 31) as RU led the match in blocks, 9-5...registered six kills and two blocks against No. 1 Penn State (Nov. 6)...tied her season--high with seven blocks at Ohio State (Nov. 28), including two solo blocks.

As a junior (2014): Started all 33 matches for the Scarlet Knights ... finished first on the team with 112 blocks ... recorded six kills, five blocks and an assist against Winthrop (Aug. 29) ... notched 11 kills on 19 attempts (.474), as well as four blocks against SIUE (Aug. 29) ... led the team with 15 kills on 29 attempts (.448), along with a season-high eight blocks, three digs, one service ace and one block at Air Force (Aug. 30) ... tallied nine kills, two blocks and one service ace against Siena (Sept. 5) ... posted four blocks and three kills against NJIT (Sept. 12) ...tied her season-high with eight blocks against James Madison (Sept. 20) ... led the team with seven kills at Northwestern (Sept. 26) ... tallied four kills and a block against then-No. 16 Purdue (Oct. 3) ... tied for the team lead with five kills against Indiana (Oct. 5) ... led the team with a career-high 10 kills in the five-set thriller at Maryland (Oct. 21) ... tied the team-high with six blocks as Rutgers outblocked No. 2 Wisconsin in a four-set decision (Nov.26)...named Academic All-Big Ten. 

As a sophomore (2013): Saw action in 25 matches, starting in 21 ... led the team with 96 total blocks to average 1.23 blocks/set, good for third in the American Athletic Conference ... tallied double-digit kills on three occasions ... led the team in both kills and blocks in four different matches ... had a career performance at Cincinnati on Nov. 27, recording 19 kills on 32 attacks (.500) and 10 blocks (both career-highs) ... her double-double against Cincinnati (Nov. 27) marked the first time since at least 2006 that a Scarlet Knights finished with double-figures in both kills and blocks in a match ... finished with at least five rejections on eight separate occasions, including nine total blocks against both Houston (Nov. 3) and SMU (Nov. 1) ... posted a career-high four digs twice versus Temple (Nov. 22) and Stony Brook (Sept. 7)...named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team.

As a freshman (2012): Redshirted. 

High School: Played two years of varsity volleyball at Mt. Carmel High School ... Division II Second-Team All-San Diego selection in 2010 ... awarded most improved player in 2010 ... was a scholar-athlete in 2011 and 2012, while also earning selections on San Diego's Union-Tribune All-Academic Team.

Club: Played with Epic Volleyball Club.

Personal: Daughter of Robyn and Karlwin Matthews ...has one sibling, Brea, who plays basketball for San Jose State.
