Biography

Jordan Derkack joins the Scarlet Knights with two years of eligibility remaining, bringing a strong reputation for excellence on both ends of the court from his standout career at Merrimack in the Northeast Conference.
 

2024-25 Season (At Rutgers)

  • Played in 31 games, starting 10, averaging 5.7 points and 2.8 rebounds in 17.1 minutes per game with 48 assists and 23 steals 
  • Had nine assists, six rebounds and six points against Monmouth (Nov. 15)
  • Scored 16 points against Notre Dame (Nov. 26)
  • Had 10 points against Princeton (Dec. 21)
  • Scored 26 points against No. 8 Michigan State at Madison Square Garden (Jan. 25)
Prior to Rutgers

At Merrimack:
  • Played in 66 games (all starts) over two seasons, averaging 12.0 points, 4.97 rebounds, 3.34 assists, and 3.16 steals.
  • In the 2023-24 season, led the team with 17.7 points per game while contributing six rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
  • Shot 46.6% from the floor and earned multiple accolades, including NEC Player of the Year and NEC Defensive Player of the Year.
  • Notable performance: Achieved a season-high 34 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists, and 5 steals against LIU on February 8.
  • Scored in double figures in 26 games and surpassed 20 points in 11 games.
  • In his freshman year, named NEC Co-Rookie of the Week and earned a spot on the NEC All-Rookie Team.
High School:
  • Attended Colonia High School in New Jersey, averaging 13.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 2.0 steals as a senior.
  • Recognized as one of the best players in the Greater Middlesex Conference, earning a spot on the GMC all-conference team.

Jordan is excited to come to Rutgers and represent his home state. He has built relationships with former Rutgers stars, such as Geo Baker, who have helped acclimate him to the culture.   • “I do a little bit of everything. I love to get downhill. On the defensive side, I’m a crazy person. I’m guarding the best player and that’s what I’m looking to do. I’m looking to bring energy to this team, and bring some leadership both vocally and by example.”
