Eric Traeger joined Rutgers University Athletics as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach in August 2024.
Traeger serves as the lead strength and conditioning coach for Rutgers Softball while also overseeing the development of multiple event groups within Rutgers Track & Field, including cross country, throwers, and sprinters. In his role, he is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive performance programs that support athlete development, injury prevention, and competitive readiness throughout the year.
Before Rutgers, Traeger spent over two years in the strength and conditioning department at Penn State University Athletics, serving as a Graduate Strength and Conditioning Fellow, Part-Time Strength and Conditioning Coach, and intern.
A native of Pennsylvania, Traeger earned both his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology (Movement Science) in 2022 and his master's degree in Higher Education in 2024 from Penn State University. He holds certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC), USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach (USAW-L1), NSCA Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT), and Red Cross CPR certification.
