Anne Meade

New Jersey Gymnastics Hall of Fame (Class of 2017)
Anne Meade is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Rutgers gymnastics program after being hired in the summer of 2017. A native of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, Meade spent the 2016 season on staff at Pittsburgh after coaching at North Stars Gymnastics Academy at the club level for 16 years.

“I am really excited to add Anne to the staff,” Levine said upon the hire. “She has shown the ability to help develop some of the best gymnasts in the country during her time at North Stars and gained valuable experience last year while on the staff at Pittsburgh. Her extensive knowledge of the club gymnastics scene in New Jersey, as well as the region, will be invaluable to our recruiting efforts. Between Anne and Kaitlin, we have added a tremendous amount of experience in the gym and I can't wait to get started with the team preparing for the 2017-18 season.”

“I am truly excited about being back home in New Jersey, and being a part of such a prestigious academic community,” Meade said. “I look forward to working with the gymnastics and athletic staff here at Rutgers and can't wait to see our team do well this year.”

Meade earned the prestigious honor of being inducted into the New Jersey Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2017. She was recognized for her appreciation, dedication, development and inspiration to the sport.

In her season with the Panthers, the team finished fifth at the EAGL Championships and had two gymnasts earn individual berths to NCAA Regionals. Meade focused on vault and floor exercise and helped increase the Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) and average on both events. The team scored as high as 195.375 overall.

Prior to making the jump to the collegiate level, Meade helped transform North Stars Gymnastics Academy, located in Boonton, New Jersey, into one of the top clubs in the country. She coached a variety of regional and national level gymnasts, including Alicia Boren, the only four-time Junior Olympic National Champion. Meade also coached athletes in the Visa USA Championships in 2013 as well as the CoverGirl Classic for three years.

Meade helped mentor numerous past Rutgers gymnasts before arriving on campus, including Amanda Soder, Ali (Hartwig) Tverdov, Jenna Zito, Nicole Romano and current junior Michelle Amoresano.

Meade spent her early years as an elite gymnast with the North Stars, starting at age 5 ½ and continuing through high school. She was a member of the US National Team for three years from 1991-93, winning a Junior National Championship in 1991 and also winning a gold medal at the Pan-American Games in Havana, Cuba, the same year. A 1999 graduate of New Hampshire with a degree in early childhood studies, she competed as a scholarship athlete on the Wildcats’ gymnastics team from 1995-99.

Meade is married to her husband, Adam Meade, and has a four-year-old daughter, Lillian.
