David Bieler is in his second year with the Rutgers volleyball program as the team’s Director of Operations.

Bieler arrives “On The Banks” after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at UMBC where he was a part of the 2023 America East Co-Coaching Staff of the Year. As a member of the staff, the Retrievers captured the America East regular season title and finished the season 8-2 in conference play and 15-7 overall, leading the league in per-set averages for points, assists and kills.

Other previous coaching experience includes the PREVAIL Volleyball Club as the head coach of the 15U boys team that earned an AAU National Bid in the summer of 2023, as well as a clinician at the UNCW and Pittsburgh summer clinics.

A June 2022 graduate of Pittsburgh with a degree in computer science, Bieler was also a manager for the Panther’s women’s volleyball program and a member of the Pittsburgh men’s volleyball club team that took third place at the 2021 Open Nationals. He also previously played with the PREVAIL Volleyball Club which reached fifth at the 2018 AAU National Championship.
