Philip Fusco joined the R Fund staff as an Associate Director of Development for Major Gifts in November 2021. His primary responsibilities are to cultivate and facilitate relationships with supporters of Rutgers Athletics while increasing overall University support and advancing the fundraising priorities of the Athletics Department.
Previous to his arrival at Rutgers, Phil was the Assistant Athletic Director for Development with the Bobcat Club at Texas State University. While at Texas State, he oversaw all annual fund related development efforts. Under his leadership, the Bobcat Club generated $1.13M from 1,300 annual fund and premium seat gifts across FY19-F21. Through his implementation of several key strategic solicitation initiatives, the Bobcat Club experienced a 22% year-over-year increase in annual fund scholarship support and a 57% year-over-year increase in memberships.
Prior to that, Phil was an Assistant Director of Development with the Army A Club. He spent 3 years with Army West Point Athletics and was a key contributor on an annual fund team that constantly exceeded annual fund goals and saw a direct correlation between dollars raised and an increase in athletic department win percentage.
Phil is a dual graduate of The Catholic University of America with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management and a Master of Science in Business Analysis. While with the Cardinals, he played Linebacker and was a 5-year member of the Football Team. The Norwood, N.J. native is a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School and currently resides in Middlesex, N.J.
