RU Men's Lacrosse Announces Recruiting Class

The list of new Scarlet Knights include Chris Doctor, an attackman from Skaneateles, NY; Josh Ashcraft, a midfielder from Carthage, NY; Cary Howard, an attackman from Dulaney High School in Maryland; Rob Miller, an attackman/midfielder, from Nassau Community College; Rob Morris, a midfielder from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School in New Jersey; Daren Ohiokpehai, a defenseman from McDonough High School in Baltimore, and Mike Sissler, a defenseman from Ramapo, NJ.
“The ability to spend a full off-season on recruiting has yielded a very talented group of both lacrosse players and athletes,” said Stagnitta, who was hired in October, 2001. “We are excited that in this early signing period we have been able to meet our recruiting goals and needs through this fine group of student-athletes.”

Josh Ashcraft is a 6-2, 190-pound midfielder who also excels at basketball at Carthage High School in New York. He was a Second-team All-League performer as a junior, scoring 24 goals and adding 11 assists. His team played in the State Championship game in 2002. He also earned a spot on the prestigious Empire State Lacrosse team last summer.
Chris Doctor is a 6-0, 195-pound attackman from Skaneateles, NY. He scored 47 goals and 48 assists last year as a junior while earning a spot on the All-Central New York Second Team. Like Ashcraft, Doctor’s team played in the 2002 State Championship game, and he also earned a spot on the Empire State Lacrosse team. Doctor is a three-sport athlete who also plays football and basketball at Skaneateles.
Cary Howard is a 6-1, 170-pound attackman from Dulaney High School in Maryland. Howard helped lead his high school team to a Public League Championship last season. He is a talented feeder with great vision and field sense.
Rob Miller is an attackman/midfielder who spent the last two years at Nassau Community College on Long Island, where he helped lead his team to the 2002 Junior College National Championship. Miller has great quickness and speed, and is regarded as one of the top junior college players in the nation.
Rob Morris, from nearby West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, is a 5-10, 185 pound middie. He was an All-Conference and All-Area selection in 2002 and was one of the leading scorers in the state of New Jersey. His ability to face-off adds another dimension to his game.
Daren Ohiokpehai is a 6-1, 215-pound defender from McDonough High School in Baltimore. He was a Second-team All-Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) selection in 2002, and was widely-considered to be one of the most athletic high school defenders in the nation. He possesses great size and speed and also possesses the stick-handling skills necessary to make an immediate impact at the Division I level.
Mike Sissler, from Ramapo High School in New Jersey, is a 6-3, 205-pound two-sport star, who also excels in football at defensive end and tight end. Sissler is one of the top defenders and all-around athletes in the state of New Jersey. Last year, he was a First-Team All-League and Second-team All-State selection.
