Brielle Cosentino (Carlstadt, NJ) pitched six innings for the Scarlet Knights, giving up seven hits and six runs (five earned). Cosentino struck out one and walked seven, with her record falling to 2-3.
The Scarlet Knights had three hits off of FSU's Casey Hunter in the shut out, with Nikki Childress (Roanoke, VA) doubling to right field in the fifth inning. Childress and Jen Jacoby (Agoura Hills, CA) each had one hit in three at bats, while Nichole Cruz (Bremerton, WA) accounted for the last hit in one of her two at bats.
Both teams were scoreless in the first inning, but the Seminoles did not wait long to start the action as Lesley Palmer hit a home run to left center to lead off the second inning. FSU picked up another run in the third inning and two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to seal the game.
The 16-team tournament bracket was revised due to the weather delay. The Scarlet Knights' game against Winthrop is rescheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 8. Rutgers will then play Penn State at the completion of the first game. Sunday's games will be determined after Saturday's bracket play. BOX SCORE
