Rutgers Rolls Past FDU 88 57

Rutgers (5-3) had four players in double figures and three first-year players post career highs as it extended its winning streak to a season-high three games. The Scarlet Knights beat FDU (4-7) for the eighth time in nine meetings.
Sophomore forward Ollie Bailey, the leading shooter in the BIG EAST coming in to the game had 15 for Rutgers on 7-for-10 shooting. Bailey is now shooting .653 from the field. Freshman guard Manny Quezada scored a career-high 13 points, all in the second half. Quezada, who shot 6-for-8 along with Douby, entered the game with five points all season. Junior center Jimmie Inglis (10 points, eight rebounds) and freshman forward Dan Waterstradt (eight points) also had career highs.
FDU, which was averaging 76.7 points per game, was held to a season-low in points and shot just 37.7 percent overall and 15 percent from 3-point range.
Gordon Klaiber led FDU with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Andrea Crosariol added 11 points.
Holding a 23-17 advantage with 6:40 left in the first half, Rutgers scored 11 consecutive points and went on a 16-4 run to take a 39-21 halftime lead.
FDU never got closer than the 18 the rest of the way, as Rutgers gradually extended the lead after intermission. The Scarlet Knights opened their largest lead of 23 points on four different occasions, the last coming at 87-54.

WITH THE WIN
With tonight's 88-57 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson, Rutgers improves its record to 5-3 on the season. Rutgers is 8-1 all-time against FDU and 34-3 against current members of the Northeast Conference.
DE-FENSE
With the score knotted at 8-8 early in the first half, Rutgers went on an 11-2 run in which it held FDU to just one field goal in a span of 7:55. That helped build a 19-10 advantage with 8:33 remaining before intermission.
GETTING OFFENSIVE
Rutgers shot a blistering 58.1 percent (18-31) from the floor in the first half, the second highest percentage of the season. In the second half against Rhode Island, Rutgers shot 60.1 percent (12-20). The Scarlet Knights' 88 points was a season high and marked its largest offensive output since scoring 102 points against Northern Colorado (2/17/04). The 31-point margin of victory is the largest since that Northern Colorado game.
INGLIS CRASHES THE BOARDS
In a career-high 19 minutes of action, junior Jimmie Inglis registered career highs in points (10) and rebounds (eight).
As a team, Rutgers registered a season-high 49 rebounds, matching the most since it faced Syracuse on March 9, 2003. RU last recorded more than 49 rebounds against Fordham with 50 caroms on 12/11/02.

Rutgers held FDU to just 57 total points after limiting Norfolk State to 58 points on Saturday night. Below is a compilation of RU's opponent scoring in the last four games. Rutgers has limited its opponents to 56.5 points per game in that span.

OFF THE BENCH
Rutgers had by far its most productive game of the season from its reserves, as freshman guard Manny Quezada contributed 13 points, five rebounds and three steals in 10 minutes of action (all career highs), while Jimmie Inglis was a force inside with 10 points and eight rebounds. Overall, the Scarlet Knights received a season-high 37 points off the bench, the most since RU scored 45 against Northern Colorado on Feb. 17, 2004.

Sophomore forward Aaron Washington made his Rutgers debut, entering the game with 3:13 to play in the second half. Jason Cherry, also a sophomore, made his Rutgers debut. Sophomore Jon Mimmo made his season debut.
