Rutgers to Host Fall Hoop Festival Nov. 9-10

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers men's and women's basketball programs will host the Scarlet Knights "Fall Hoop Festival" for boys and girls, grades 2-8, from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9 and Friday, Nov. 10, at the Louis Brown Athletic Center on the university's Livingston Campus.
Additionally, the Scarlet Knights "Fall Hoop Festival" will be held at several locations across New Jersey, on the same dates at the same times. Additional sites include:
Monroe Applegarth Middle School and Brookside Elementary School
Park Ridge Park Ridge High School
Point Pleasant Point Pleasant Beach High School
Toms River Toms River High School and the Ritacco Center
West Orange West Orange High School
Monroe head boys' basketball coach Bob Turco and head girls' basketball coach Leigh Vogtman will run the clinic at the Applegarth and Brookside locations. Directing the clinic at Park Ridge High School will head boy's coach Pete Crandall, while Point Pleasant Beach boys' head coach Nick Catania will run the clinic at Point Pleasant Beach. The clinics at Toms River High School and the Ritacco Center will be run by the "Hoop Festival" staff. West Orange head boys' basketball Mark Cacciacarne will direct the clinic at West Orange High School.
At each site, there will be a number of experienced varsity, junior varsity and freshman basketball coaches from area high schools to provide instruction.
The clinic stresses basketball fundamentals through games, drills and individual instruction, as well as emphasizes the importance of academics and life skills. All participants will receive a T-Shirt, self-improvement workout program, and two tickets to a Rutgers men's and women's basketball game.
