Rutgers Falls at St. Peter's 65-58

JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Freshman Corey Chandler (Newark, N.J.) scored 16 points to lead three Scarlet Knights in double figures, but it was not enough, as Rutgers (4-2) dropped a 65-58 decision to St. Peter's (2-2) Sunday afternoon at the National Guard Armory. Wesley Jenkins and Todd Sowell scored 26 and 22 points, respectively, to pace the Peacocks in the first collegiate game played at the historic facility since 1975.

Junior forward JR Inman (Pomona, N.Y.) finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds, the sixth double-double of his career and his second this season. Sophomore center Hamady Ndiaye (Dakar, Senegal) joined Inman in double-figures with 10 points. Redshirt senior Byron Joynes (Baltimore, Md.) had 10 rebounds and one block, moving him to a tie for 19th place on the Rutgers all-time blocked shots list with 59.
Just seven players competed for the Scarlet Knights, who shot 32.8 percent (20-61) from the field and 15.4 percent (2-13) from behind the arc. St. Peter's made 38.3 percent 23-60) of its field goal attempts and shot 47.1 percent (8-17) from long range. Rutgers, which had a season-high 13 steals, out-rebounded the Peacocks by a 44-41 margin.
The Scarlet Knights return to the hardwood on Saturday, Dec. 1, when they face in-state foe Princeton in a 2:00 p.m. tip-off at the RAC.
