Adrian Hill Named 2006-07 Rutgers Basketball MVP

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Senior forward ADRIAN HILL was named Most Valuable Player of the 2006-07 Rutgers men's basketball team, it was announced at the team's annual awards banquet.
The 6-foot-8 forward from Canton, Ohio, put together an outstanding senior season for the Scarlet Knights as one of the BIG EAST Conference leaders in rebounding and field goal percentage. Hill averaged nearly eight rebounds per game (7.8) in league action, and sank .641 percent of his shots from the floor in conference games. Overall, Hill averaged 9.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game for the Scarlet Knights. Hill, who has battled back from knee injuries during his career, was also named the team's Most Improved Player.
Senior guard MARQUIS WEBB of Paterson, NJ, was the recipient of the Frank Hill Award, annually award to the individual exemplifies the characteristics of loyalty and leadership. Webb, who averaged 10.1 points per game in his final season as a Scarlet Knight, was also awarded the Alton Adler Award as the team's top defender, and the Michael J. Malone Award as the top free throw shooter. Webb also received the Ethelyn Meyer Award for becoming the 35th player in Rutgers history to surpass the 1,000 point mark in his career.
Senior guard SHAYLE KEATING (Teaneck, NJ) was the recipient of the George Mackaronis Scholar-Athlete Award as the team's top scholar-athlete. Keating is majoring in Exercise Science and Sports Studies, with a minor in African Studies. Senior forward FRANK RUSSELL (Fayetteville, NC) was the recipient of the Kevin and Helen Collins Academic Improvement Award. Russell is Sociology major, with a minor in Africana Studies.
Sophomores JR INMAN (Pomona, NY) and ANTHONY FARMER (Millville, NJ) were cited for leading the Scarlet Knights in two statistical categories. Inman, a 6-9 forward who led the Scarlet Knights with a 12.0 points per game scoring average, was the recipient of the of the Leading Rebounder Award after averaging 7.3 boards per contest. Farmer, a 6-1 guard, was honored as the Assist Leader after dishing off 88 assists in 2006-07.
Freshman center HAMADY N'DIAYE (Dakar, Senegal), who led the Scarlet Knights with 49 blocked shots in 2006-07, was named the Outstanding Newcomer. The 6-11 N'Diaye added 2.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest.
