Rutgers Women's Soccer Battles Villanova to 0-0 Draw
Sep 28 | Women's Soccer
VILLANOVA, PA. - The Rutgers women's soccer team returned to BIG EAST play with a 0-0 draw against Villanova. The Scarlet Knights (5-3-1, 0-1-1) were led by sophomore goalie Erin Guthrie (Sparta, N.J.), who had four saves. The Wildcats (7-0-3, 1-0-1) were up to the task though, as senior goalie Jillian Loyden saved five shots.
"I thought both sides played well," said head coach Glenn Crooks. "We had two or three very good opportunities to score but Loyden played a tremendous game. We will have to work on our offense, but I thought the final score tonight was fair."
Sophomore Gina DeMaio (Parsippany, N.J.) had three shots, two on goal, to lead the Scarlet Knights offense.
Rutgers continues BIG EAST play on Sunday, Sept. 30 when the Scarlet Knights face Georgetown at 1 p.m. on Yurcak Field.
