"We're still trying to figure out how to maintain a rhythm when we play good teams like Notre Dame," said head coach CJ Werneke. "Our kids didn't give up, sometimes (good teams) just beat you. We're still learning that magic formula of energy and focus that will allow us to compete at this level."
Christina Kaelin, who ranks sixth in the conference with 3.49 kills per game, racked up a team-high seven kills for the Irish (13-12, 8-4). Jamel Nicholas dished out a match-high 27 assists in the win.
Rutgers will play its final two matches of the season next weekend. The Scarlet Knights will take on Louisville on Saturday, Nov. 15 and then conclude their 2008 campaign with a road tilt at Cincinnati the following day.
