Jonathan Mitchell Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (December 20, 2010) - Rutgers senior forward Jonathan Mitchell (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after averaging 19.0 points and 6.5 rebounds to help Rutgers (8-2) to a 2-0 week. The Scarlet Knights won at Monmouth 79-56 Saturday evening after defeating Fairleigh Dickinson 79-65 at home on Tuesday.
Mitchell shot 56.7 percent (17-30) from the field and 57.1 percent (4-7) from behind the arc for the week. He had 16 points and seven rebounds at Monmouth. The 23-point win over the Hawks marked the largest margin of victory for Rutgers on the road since an 81-56 win at La Salle on Dec. 5, 2001. Versus Fairleigh Dickinson, Mitchell shot 10-of-15 to score 22 points with six rebounds.
It marks the second-straight week Rutgers had a player selected to the honor roll. Sophomore guard Dane Miller (Rochester, N.Y.) captured accolades last Monday.
