Rutgers Softball Sweeps Missouri State in Doubleheader

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (March 18, 2010) – The Rutgers softball team swept Missouri State in a doubleheader on Thursday by scores of 5-1 in the first game and 12-1 in the second contest at the Killian Softball Complex.
The Scarlet Knights (9-14) were led on the mound by Nicole Lindley (Cicero, N.Y.) in game one and Holly Johnson (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) in the night cap. Lindley threw eight strikeouts in seven innings and Johnson earned seven strikeouts in seven innings.
Junior infielder Mandy Craig (Manassas, Va.) spearheaded the offensive showcase for Rutgers by blasting a three-run homerun in the first inning of game one. She totaled three hits and three RBIs against the Bears.
Sophomore infielder Brittney Lindley (Cicero, N.Y.) had a strong offensive day for the Scarlet Knights and she notched four hits and two RBIs on the day.
RU will be back in action next Wednesday, March 24, for a doubleheader at Stony Brook.
