
C. Vivian Stringer to Enter Hometown Hall of Fame

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (May 14, 2010) - Rutgers head women's basketball coach C. Vivian Stringer will be inducted into the Fayette County Sports Hall of Fame on June 26, it has been announced. The Pennsylvania county honor will take place at a banquet at Penn State Fayette, the Eberly campus.
The class of honorees is the second for the FCSHOF.
Stringer, a 2009 inductee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, is a native of Edenborn, Pa. - 40 miles south of Pittsburgh - and attended German Township High School. The former Vivian Stoner has spoken openly of her proud roots as a coal-miner's daughter in the small village of Edenborn.
The first coach - male or female - to pilot three different teams to the NCAA Final Four, Stringer is a three-time national coach of the year. In 15 years as head coach at Rutgers, she has led the Scarlet Knights to 12 NCAA appearances, including five regional final showings.
The Fayette County Sports Hall of Fame banquet is slated for 6 p.m. Saturday, June 26 at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus in Uniontown, Pa.
