
Mitchell Posts Third Consecutive Double-Double in Bahamas Win

NASSAU, Bahamas (August 14, 2010)– Rutgers senior forward Jonathan Mitchell (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) posted his third double-double in as many games with 18 points and 16 rebounds to help the Eastern All-Stars to a 123-91 victory over the Y Cares Wreckers Friday evening at Kendal Isaac Gymnasium. RU sophomore Dane Miller (Rochester, N.Y.), who has been playing both the point guard and wing positions for the All-Stars, added 24 points, seven rebounds and four assists in helping the team to a 3-0 record.
Mitchell is averaging 20.3 points and 14.7 rebounds-per-game in the Bahamas, while Miller is averaging 24.3 points and 7.0 rebounds.
The Eastern All Stars are under the leadership of Buffalo State Head Coach Fajri Ansari and boast a roster that includes six BIG EAST Conference players. Also highlighting the squad are Joe Mazzulla and John Flowers from West Virginia, as well as Brandon Triche and Mookie Jones of Syracuse. Triche had 24 points, while Mazzulla posted 21 points and 11 assists Friday night.
The Bahamas Basketball Federation (BBF) is hosting the annual festival. The contests feature Division I teams from the United States against the Bahamas top local teams from Grand Bahama and New Providence. The University of North Carolina, the University of Memphis and the University of Nebraska are among eight American teams slated to compete in the event.
The Eastern All-Stars return to action Saturday evening against the Grand Bahamas All-Stars.
