Rutgers Announces 2010-11 Men's Basketball Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 17, 2010) – The Rutgers men’s basketball team will play 17 homes games, including hosting North Carolina at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 28, to highlight its 2010-11 schedule. Under the leadership of first-year head coach Mike Rice, the Scarlet Knights will play at least eight nationally-televised contests on the ESPN network (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU).
In BIG EAST Conference play, RU will host Marquette (Jan. 5), Providence (Jan. 8), Georgetown (Jan. 15), USF (Jan. 20), Pittsburgh (Jan. 29), Villanova (Feb. 9), Seton Hall (Feb. 12). Louisville (Feb. 22) and West Virginia (Feb. 27). The game versus the Bulls will be televised live on ESPN or ESPN2, the contest against the Panthers will be on ESPN2 and the games versus the Hoyas, Pirates and Cardinals will be on ESPNU. On the road in conference action, Rutgers will meet Villanova in its BIG EAST opener on January 2 on ESPNU.
RU’s nationally-televised, non-conference games include meeting Auburn on ESPN2 in the 2010DIRECTV SEC/BIG EAST Invitational at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh on Dec. 11. The Scarlet Knights also host the Tar Heels during the holiday season in New York City on ESPN2.
The 2011 BIG EAST Championship will take place at Madison Square Garden March 8-12.
Additional times and television information for the Scarlet Knights’ 2010-11 schedule will be announced at later dates. BIG EAST Conference contests not slated for national telecasts will air on ESPN Regional’s BIG EAST Network or ESPN3.com.
