
Rice Recognized For Coaches vs. Cancer Efforts

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Rice was at Yankee Stadium Wednesday evening to participate in a pre-game ceremony prior to the Yankees' game against the Kansas City Royals. Rice was one of 10 college basketball coaches recognized for their involvement with Coaches vs. Cancer.
Other coaches attending included Jim Boeheim (Syracuse), Mitch Buonaguro (Siena), Mo Cassara (Hofstra), Tommy Dempsey (Rider), Matt Doherty (Southern Methodist), John Dunne (Saint Peter’s), Mitch Henderson (Princeton), Steve Lavin (St. John’s) and Mike Lonergan (George Washington).
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
