
Eli Carter Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 26, 2012) - Rutgers sophomore guard Eli Carter (Paterson, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after averaging 22.5 points, while shooting 56.0 percent (14-of-25) and a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line, to help the Scarlet Knights to a 2-0 record last week. Carter is currently averaging a team-best 18.0 points-per-game, while shooting 95.7 percent (22-of-23) from the charity stripe and 40.0 percent (10-of-25) from behind the arc.
Carter made 9-of-15 field goals and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line to score 25 points in 30 minutes in a hard-fought 87-80 victory at North Carolina-Greensboro on Sunday afternoon. The performance followed in impressive showing versus Boston University on Tuesday, when he shot 5-of-10 and was a perfect 8-of-8 from the foul line to score 20 points in 27 minutes off the bench in an 81-79 win.
The St. Anthony High School product presently leads the BIG EAST in free throw percentage, while also placing eighth in the conference in scoring and tied for 10th in three-point field goals made per game (2.0).
The honor marks Carter’s second career recognition on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, after being cited during his freshman season. He was also recognized as BIG EAST Rookie of the Week in 2011-12.
