PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 1, 2013) - The BIG EAST Conference named senior catcher Kaci Madden (Saratoga, N.Y.) to its Weekly Honor, the conference announced. Madden went 5-9 (.556) with five RBIs, a double and a home run during a 4-1 week for the Rutgers softball team, notching her first home run of the season in the Scarlet Knights' 6-0 victory over UConn in the series finale.
Madden hit safely in all but one of her four games started during the week, turning in her best performance against the Huskies to lead RU to its first series win over UConn in 15 years. She went 2-2 with a home run, run scored and three RBIs in the win.
Madden is the second player to earn a BIG EAST Weekly honor this season. Senior outfielder Loren Williams (Los Angeles, Calif.) has earned the honor twice for the Scarlet Knights in 2013.
