
RU Softball Signs Standout Catcher To Incoming Class

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (May 7, 2013) - Freehold High School standout Gabrielle Romanowski (Freehold, N.J.) has signed on to join the Rutgers softball team for the 2013-2014 season. Romanowski was a four-year starter at Freehold High School, earning All-Shore Conference Honors in 2011 and hitting over .500 in three of her four seasons in a Patriots uniform.
"Gabi will add power to our line-up and strengthen our depth on defense," said head coach Jay Nelson. "We are really excited that Gabi chose to join Rutgers for the 2013-14 campaign."
The catcher/ utility player competed in the Carpenter Cup, representing the Jersey Shore softball team in 2010 and 2011, and is currently closing out her high school career with authority. Romanowski boasts a .580 batting average with three home runs, six doubles and 31 hits. As a junior (2012), Romanowski hit .583 with seven homers, seven doubles and 31 runs scored.
Romanowski has also excelled as an all-star student. She was inducted in the National Honor Society in January of her junior year and owns a 3.8 GPA as an honor roll student. She plans on majoring in Food Science at the University.
