Men's Golf Places Second at Lehigh Invitational

Oct. 19, 2014 BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Rutgers University men's golf placed second with a 621 (309-312) total at the 12-team Lehigh Invitational, played Saturday and Sunday at Saucon Valley Country Club's par-72, 7,091-yard Grace Course. Junior Jonathan Chang paced the Scarlet Knights with a 151 (74-77) to tie for fifth in the 66-player field, as RU had three players among the top 11 competitors.
The tournament marked the final event of the fall season for RU. The Scarlet Knights fell just short of defending their 2013 Lehigh team title. Towson University won the Invitational with a 602 (295-307), while Lafayette placed third with a 628 (304-324).
Not far behind Chang was sophomore Michael Howe, who followed up his first round 79 with a 75 on Sunday to finish tied for eighth with a 154.
Senior Jacob Stockl and freshman Toks Pedro also had successful weekends. Stockl shot a 155 (78-77) and just missed the top ten, finishing tied for eleventh. Pedro fired a 161 (78-83) to tie for 30th.
Rounding out the Scarlet Knights' scorecard was sophomore Ryan Rose. His 168 (85-83) tied him for 57th.
Freshman Matt Holuta also competed as an individual. Holuta tied for 35th with a 162 (79-83).
Towson's John Hulede captured individual medalist honors with a 148 (71-77).
The Scarlet Knights, under the leadership of head coach Rob Shutte, return to competition next spring.
