Softball Hosts Caldwell, LIU

PISCATAWY, N.J. (Oct. 3, 2014) - The Rutgers softball team returns to fall action, hosting back-to-back doubleheaders against Caldwell College and Long Island University. The Scarlet Knights face the Cougars on Friday, Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. and the Blackbirds on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. at the RU Softball Complex.
Caldwell finished the 2014 season ranked 14th in the final National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Poll. The Cougars captured the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular season crown with a 24-2 record in league action. With an overall record of 45-9, the team also advanced to the East Super Regional for the first time in program history.
LIU wrapped up the year with an overall record of 22-34 and a Northeast Conference record of 9-7. The Blackbirds advanced to the title game of the NEC Tournament, falling by a score of 5-3 to Bryant.
Following the weekend's games, Rutgers concludes fall competition on the road at Lehigh on Sunday, Oct. 12.
