PISCATAWAY, N.J. - After winning two straight and three of its last four games, Rutgers (6-4) returns home to the RAC to host St. Francis, Pa. (5-4) in a 2 p.m. tip-off on Saturday (Dec. 20). With non-conference wins over ACC (Clemson) and SEC (Vanderbilt) foes on the road this season, the Scarlet Knights are currently ranked 84th in the ESPN Daily Ratings Percentage Index and 87th in the NCAA RPI. Saturday will feature post game foul shots on the court for Junior Knights Club members ages 12 and under. Children who are not members of the Junior Knights will have the opportunity to sign up and participate.
Saturday afternoon's game will be televised live via the web on BTN Plus with Lou Brogno calling the action and Austin Johnson providing the analysis. On the radio, the contest will be broadcast live on the Rutgers IMG Sports Network, WOR 710 AM in New York & WCTC 1450 AM in New Brunswick. Chris Carlin will serve as play-by-play announcer and Dick Lloyd will provide commentary. WRSU (88.7 FM) will also broadcast the game.
The game will mark the first meeting on the collegiate hardwood between the Scarlet Knights and Red Flash.
Senior forward Kadeem Jack posted a season-high 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help Rutgers to a 63-55 victory over Manhattan in the 2014 Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore forward Junior Etou added 16 points and eight boards as the Scarlet Knights shot 23-of-25 overall from the charity stripe. It marked the most made free throws in a game for RU since it deposited 24-of-30 in a 72-68 win over USF in last season's AAC Championship. Rutgers established a 35-23 rebounding advantage and shot a season-best 46.3 percent (19-of-41) from the field. Fifteen of RU's 19 field goals featured an assist.
Senior guard Myles Mack is second in the Big Ten and is 15th nationally in steals (2.7), while placing third in the Conference and 39th nationally in minutes played (35.9) and seventh in the B1G and 99th nationally assists (4.4). Jack is second in the Big Ten in offensive rebounding (3.0), while Etou is third in the conference in defensive rebounding (5.5).
St. Francis, under the direction of third-year head coach Rob Krimmel and a member of the Northeast Conference, earned its second straight win with a 67-52 victory at Duquesne Wednesday night. Senior forward Earl Brown scored 16 points and junior forward Ronnie Drinnon had 15 rebounds. St. Francis led for the entirety and by as many as 17 points, while out-rebounded the Dukes by a 45-29 margin. Brown averages 14.2 points-per-game for an SFU team that ranks 13th nationally in three-point field goal percentage defense (26.6). Junior guard Greg Brown is 11th nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.88).
