Rosa Earns Second Honor Roll Recognition

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 14, 2014) - For the second time this season, Rutgers baseball freshman Gaby Rosa (Perth Amboy, N.J.) earned a spot on the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. The right-hander did not allow an earned run over eight innings Saturday in a home win over Hartford, surrendering two hits in the 95-pitch outing. He also struck out a career-best six batters.
Rosa also garnered the accolade March 24 after giving up no earned runs over eight innings at No. 7 Louisville. For the season, the freshman has recorded three wins and worked to a 3.35 ERA, while opposing hitters have batted to just a .221 average against in nine appearances.
Three different RU pitchers have now combined for four American Weekly Honor Roll honors this season, also including sophomore Howie Brey (Middletown, N.J.) and redshirt freshman Kyle Driscoll (Toms River, N.J.). Senior Brian O'Grady (Warminster, Pa.) additionally picked up a Player of the Week earlier this season.
Rutgers (14-18) will continue its 13-game homestand with a game Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. versus Lafayette at Bainton Field. The next series will start at home Thursday against Cincinnati.
