Rutgers Mourns the Passing of Pete Hall

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (June 2, 2014) - A 1995 inductee to the Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame and a two-time All-American in baseball, Pete Hall passed away May 29 at the age of 73.
Hall is in a select group of Scarlet Knights to twice earn All-America honors (1961 and 1962) in baseball. During his three letter-winning years (1960-62), the Scarlet Knights were 40-14-1. The former third baseman still holds 10th place on the career batting average chart (.384) and fifth place on the career slugging average chart (.612) in the Scarlet Knight record book. Hall was a 1961 draft pick of the New York Yankees. Hall was the Upstream Award winner in 1962. In 1961, he led the team in hitting (.397), runs (21), hits (31), RBIs (30) and made just five errors while starting every game.
At the high school level, Hall earned nine varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball at Bound Brook High School. He was the high scorer on the Group III state basketball championship team and was the leading hitter on the 1957 and 1958 teams, which earned Hall all-state honors in both sports. Following his playing career, Hall collected over 400 wins as the head baseball coach at Ridge High School during a 26-year tenure.
