Big Ten Releases 2015 RU Softball Opponents

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (June 25, 2014) - The Rutgers softball team received its 2015 Big Ten Conference home/away opponents Wednesday, as the Scarlet Knights will play four road league games and four at the RU Softball Complex.
Rutgers will face Michigan State, Michigan, Maryland and Wisconsin at home and travel to take on Indiana, Purdue, Ohio State and Penn State. Michigan and Wisconsin, both of which will visit Piscataway in 2015, are the lone conference foes on the schedule to qualify for the 2014 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament. The Badgers were eliminated at Regionals, while the Wolverines advanced to Super Regionals before falling against Florida State.
The Scarlet Knights enter their inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference after going 28-19 overall and 9-9 in their only season in the American Athletic Conference. RU posted one of the program's best seasons in recent history in 2014, capturing its first postseason win since 1998 and recording its highest winning percentage (.596) since 1995.
NFCA Division I All-Mideast Region First Team members and rising seniors Jackie Bates (Lincroft, N.J.) and Chandler Howard (Wilmington, Del.) will return to lead the Scarlet Knights next season. Overall, the squad has 16 of its 19 players returning, including seven underclassmen.
