Softball Reschedules Fall Opener

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Oct. 7, 2015) - The Rutgers softball team has rescheduled its fall matchups with LIU Brooklyn and Caldwell. The Scarlet Knights will welcome the Blackbirds on Saturday, Oct. 10 for a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. RU will then host the Cougars on Sunday, Oct. 11 in a doubleheader starting at Noon.
Last season, Rutgers rolled LIU Brooklyn, 18-9, in an April 28th game at the RU Softball Complex. The Scarlet Knights registered 15 hits across the first four innings, closing the contest in the top of the fifth. In 2015, the Blackbirds advanced to the Northeast Conference Tournament final for the fourth consecutive season. The squad returns 12 letterwinners, as well as adding seven newcomers.
Caldwell enters the fall after claiming the 2015 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament title. The Cougars advanced to their eighth consectuive NCAA Division II East Region Tournmament and finished the season ranked 21st in the final NFCA Top 25 poll. The Cougars return three ECAC All-Star to its 2015-16 squad.
