Lewis A Good Works Team Nominee
Dec 03 | Men's Basketball
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers senior center Greg Lewis is one of 106 Division I men's basketball nominees for the 2016 Allstate National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Good Works Team. This distinguished award shines a spotlight on student-athletes who have shown dedication to service in their communities.
A graduate student pursuing a master's degree in Labor and Employment Relations and team captain who has persevered through injuries, Lewis is active in the community. This past summer he competed with Division I players from across the United States on a two-week tour of the Philippines with Athletes in Action. A member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and team leader for the Team Impact relationship with Sean Moffit, Lewis has visited Robert Wood Johnson Children's Hospital and volunteered at Elijah's Promise Soup Kitchen. He has also participated in Toys for Tots holiday gift give away and served as a volunteer for both Urban Impact and the Special Olympics.
Lewis has started all seven games for the Scarlet Knights this season and has competed in 89 contests (41 starts) during his RU career.
In its fourth year, the Good Works Team recognizes players at all levels of college basketball who have made outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement. From establishing nonprofits that provide youth with the necessary tools to become leaders of tomorrow, to raising awareness around pertinent issues that could save lives, these student-athletes exhibit leadership skills both on and off the court.
