Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at Metropolitan Championships

BRONX - Rutgers men's cross country produced a second-place finish of 2:14.10 at the 2016 Metropolitan Championships Friday afternoon in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. It was the Scarlet Knights' best finish in the last seven years in the event.
RESULTS
Junior Trent Brinkofski placed fifth and sophomore Dominick Munson finished sixth to highlight RU's championship appearance. Manhattan captured the Met Championships' crown, while Columbia secured third place.
Brinkofski produced a time 26:26.6 as the top runner for Rutgers, contributing a mile split of 5:17.4. Munson finished right behind Brinkofski with a time of 26:39.3.
In total, seven Scarlet Knights placed within the top-20 of competitors. Rookie Nicholas Pschunder (13th -- 26:59.8), sophomore Conor Murphy (14th -- 26:59.8), junior Alexander Livernois (16th-- 27:04.9), senior Nicholas Price (19th -- 27:06.3) and junior Luke Wiley (20th -- 27:08.8) all helped Rutgers collect its best team result at the Metropolitan Championships since the Scarlet Knights finished third at last year's event.
RU returns to action Oct. 30 when it runs at the Big Ten Championships in Falcon Heights, Minnesota.
