
Former Basketball Standout April Sykes signed to WLBL Team Homentmen Antelias

Lebanon: Scarlet Knight Alumni April Sykes will continue her international basketball career at Homentmen Antelias in Lebanon.
Homentmen Antelias has been ranked top three in the WLBL since its inception in 2007. For the past two years, they have won the Lebanese League Championship. The team won the Lebanese Cup in 2014 after appearing in the finals for four separate years prior.
Sykes played last summer at Mieleras in the Mexican league LNBPF. She was the top scorer in the league with 25.2 points per game and was top five in rebounds with 8.8 per game. She also averaged 2.1 assists per game. Sykes was instrumental in leading Mieleras to two LNBPF titles, and was selected by Latinbasket.com as All-Mexican LNBPF Player of the Year, Import Player of the Year and Guard of the Year.
At Rutgers, Sykes was a first team All-Met selection and an All-BIG EAST selection in back-to-back years. Her senior year she averaged 12.9 points per game and led RU with a team-high four 20-point games. Sykes became the 31st player in school history to score 1,000 career points. The guard ranks fourth in career three-point field goals attempted (468) and sixth in three-point field goals made (138). A standout player, Sykes ended her career averaging 9.0 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game and 1.3 assists per game in 129 appearances with 1,162 total points.
Sykes represented USA in the 2011 Pan American Games in Mexico, where she averaged 9.0 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game and 1.3 assists per game.
In 2012, Sykes was drafted into the WNBA by the Los Angeles Sparks (Third round, 28th overall). She has played professionally in four different countries. In Australia she played for the Sydney Uni Flames, where she was named the Most Valuable Player for the 2012-2013 season after averaging 18.2 points per game, ranking third in the league in scoring. She also played in Germany (ChemCats Chemnitz), Israel (Hapoel Rishon Le Zion) and the WNBA (Phoenix Mercury).
