- Became the 15th Scarlet Knight to make first career start this season and fourth true freshman (WR Bo Melton, WR Hunter Hayek, WR Everett Wormley).
TEAM NOTES
- Rutgers won its third Big Ten game in four outings, its best stretch since joining the league in 2014. The three wins match the team-high for a Big Ten season, also done in 2014.
- Rutgers improved to 6-7 all-time versus Maryland, with each team winning two conference matchups. The Scarlet Knights are now 4-3 against the Terrapins in Piscataway.
- Rutgers recorded an interception for the fourth-straight game, snatching six over that span. The Scarlet Knights now have eight picks in six Big Ten games.
- Rutgers registered three pass break-ups in the final four defensive plays and seven overall in the game. The defense has five games with five or more passes batted away this season.
- Rutgers totaled a season-high four sacks.
- The offense did not surrender a sack for the second game this season. In addition, the team has permitted one or less sacks in eight of the nine games this season.
- Both Myles Nash (DL, TE) and Dacoven Bailey (CB, WR) played on both sides of the ball.
- Rutgers ran for 239 yards, improving to 3-0 this season when topping 200 rushing yards.
- Rutgers improved to 5-2 when scoring more than 20 points in a game under head coach Chris Ash.
- Rutgers added seven points off turnovers and has outscored opponents, 51-20, off miscues this season.
- Rutgers had two 11-play touchdown drives and now has six touchdown drives of at least 11 plays this season. The Scarlet Knights also had a 13-play drive to start the game, tied for the longest of the season.

- RB Raheem Blackshear
- Recorded a 44-yard kickoff return in the third quarter, the longest by a Scarlet Knights this season.
- Finished with 102 kickoff return yards on five attempts.
- RB Gus Edwards
- Rushed for 109 yards for fourth career 100-yard game and first with Rutgers. Averaged 5.2 yards per carry.
- Scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 23-yard reception. It was his first career receiving touchdown.
- Had a game-high 132 all-purpose yards.
- PK Andrew Harte
- Drilled a career-long 50-yard field goal in the second quarter.
- First Rutgers successful field goal of at least 50 yards since Kyle Federico's 52-yard make at USF in 2012.
- DB Kiy Hester
- Had a 52-yard interception return for his second pick-six of the season.
- Now has a team-best three interceptions in 2017 and fourth during his career.
- Add two pass break-ups to make it 12 passes defended this season.
- RB Robert Martin
- Tied the game in the fourth quarter with a 10-yard rushing touchdown. Now has 18 career rushing touchdowns.
- Entered the Rutgers career rushing top-10 list with a 16-yard carry in the first quarter. Now has 2,180 career rushing yards to pass Henry Benkert's (1921-24) 2,124.
- LB Trevor Morris
- Paced the team with 12 tackles to lead or tie the team high for the seventh time in his career.
- QB Giovanni Rescigno
- Ran from nine yards out in the second quarter for his third career rushing touchdown.
- Snapped a streak of 109 consecutive passing attempts without an interception until a Hail Mary on the last play of the first half.
- TE Jerome Washington
- Led the team with three receptions for 57 yards.
- Hauled in a career-long 35-yard pass in the first quarter.
