Softball Hosts Maryland for Midweek Doubleheader

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Beginning an eight-game homestand, the Rutgers softball team hosts Maryland for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday, April 26. The first game is set for a 2 p.m. ET start.

RU'S LAST TIME OUT
Rutgers (12-31, 3-12 Big Ten) closed its weekend at Penn State with a 6-4 comeback victory in the finale. Freshman Nicole Bowman sent in the winning runs with a three-RBI hit in the top of the seventh. Sophomore Whitney Jones, who entered in relief, retired seven consecutive batters at the plate to end the contest.
Junior Rebecca Hall posted a career-high six RBIs in the series opener en route to moving into fourth on Rutgers single-season charts with 44 RBIs this season. The total also ranks fifth in the Big Ten. Freshman Taryn Atlee ranks third in the league with a .411 batting average and first in hits with 60.
SCOUTING MARYLAND
Maryland (9-33-1, 2-13 Big Ten) dropped three games at Indiana over the weekend, suffering a 2-1 extra-inning loss in the finale.
Amanda Brashear leads the team with a .308 batting average, including 44 hits, four doubles and two triples. In the circle, Madison Martin paces the pitching staff with a 3.51 ERA in a team-high 139.2 innings and a 6-13 win-loss record.
SERIES VERSUS THE TERRAPINS
Rutgers leads the all-time series with Maryland, 4-2. The Scarlet Knights look to extend a four-game winning streak over the Terps as conference foes.
