Scarlet Knights enter field as reigning champions
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's cross country returns to action for the 2018 Metropolitan Championships at the iconic Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The Scarlet Knights enter the field as the reigning champions, having claimed last year's title by placing all five point-scoring runners in the Top 11 of the 8,000-meter run.
The race is set for a 10:30 a.m. ET start in New York.
RU'S LAST TIME OUT
Rutgers first two meets of the season were also hosted at Van Cortlandt Park, including the Fordham Fiasco on Sept. 8 and the Iona College Meer of Champions on Sept. 14.
Most recently, sophomore Patrick Walsh paced RU with a time of 26:45.2 at the Meet of Champions, shaving nearly a minute off his time from his first outing of the year.
In the season opener, senior Conor Murphy led the Scarlet Knights at the Fordham Fiasco with a top 10 finish, crossing the line ninth at the 26:34.40 mark.
