Scarlet Knights Ready For Final Race Before Big Ten Championships
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women's cross country team is gearing up for its final race before the Big Ten Championships at the Penn State National Open on Friday, Oct. 12. The 6K race gets underway at 10:45 a.m. at the Blue-White Golf Course.
ABOUT THE RACE
The Scarlet Knights not only gauge themselves against two of the top Big Ten programs also racing in the field, but also get a look at the course they will see again come November of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.
Seven women's squads featured in the USTFCCCA Poll will be running alongside Rutgers including No. 14 Michigan State, host and No. 19 Penn State, No. 26 Georgia Tech, No. 27 Utah, No. 29 Princeton in addition to Dartmouth and Georgetown who are both receiving votes.
MID-ATLANTIC POLL
Rutgers checks in at No. 15 in the USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll for the third-straight week.
LAST TIME OUT
The Scarlet Knights were last in action on Sept. 29 at the annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh which featured 41 teams including No. 14 Utah State and No. 26 Georgia.
Sophomore Olympia Martin was the top Scarlet Knight finisher for the third-straight race and was 18 seconds of her 6K PR with a time of 21:49.
Junior Nadia Saponara was also just shy of a new PR with a finish line time of 22:25 and sophomore Kiera Nealon was only one second off her personal record in 22:30.

The Rutgers women's cross country team travels to the University of Nebraska for the Big Ten Championships on Sunday, Oct. 28.
