NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (Oct. 6, 2018) – Rutgers volleyball dropped a Big Ten match against Maryland in straight sets on Saturday evening at the College Ave. Gym. The Terrapins, who also scored a straight-set victory on Sept. 19, sweep the season series over the Scarlet Knights.

STANDOUT STATS
- Senior outside hitter Sahbria McLetchie paced the attack with 10 kills on a .154 attack clip, adding two digs and a block.
- Freshman middle Merle Weidt led Rutgers in blocking for the second straight night, putting back three. The rookie chipped in three digs and six kills while hitting .417 on the night.
- Freshman setter Inna Balyko passed out 30 assists on Saturday, and directed an offense that hit .342 in an exciting opening set.
- Sophomore right side Beka Kojadinovic recorded seven kills for the second time in as many nights against Big Ten opponents.
KNIGHT NOTES
- Junior libero Karysa Swackenberg had a match-high 13 digs, the 10th double-digit effort of her season – and 36th of her career.
- McLetchie bounced double-digit kills for the 10th time this season and 43rd time in her 93-match career.
THE MOMENTS
- Set 1 | Down 22-16 in the first, Rutgers strung together six straight points with McLetchie and Kojadinovic getting two kills apiece for the 22-22 tie. Again, McLetchie and Kojadinovic came in clutch as both set up set-points with kills, but Maryland survived each time and won the final three points of the period to go up 1-0.
- Set 2 | Another 6-0 rally by Rutgers came early in this set for a 6-2 advantage fueled by freshman Anastasiya Kudryashova. The rookie served during the run, scoring two aces and putting down a kill. The Terps chipped away and eventually took control on a 9-0 run.
