Volleyball Drops Penultimate Match to No. 8 Wisconsin

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (Nov. 23, 2018) – Rutgers volleyball dropped its penultimate match of the season in straight sets to No. 8 Wisconsin on Friday, Nov. 23 in the College Ave. Gym. The Badgers swept the two-match season series from the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers wraps the 2018 season on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. against No. 3 Minnesota. The Scarlet Knights will honor its lone member of the Class of 2019 – Sahbria McLetchie – on Senior Night in a ceremony right before the match.

KNIGHT NOTES
- Rutgers' six blocks upped its season total to 298, a school record.
- Junior middle Jasmine Stackhouse had three blocks against the Badgers, moving her season total to 118 and into eighth place for most in a single season in the Rutgers record book.
- Junior libero Karysa Swackenberg's six digs against Wisconsin gives her 948 for her career and sole possession of 10th place in Rutgers career history.
- Senior outside hitter Sahbria McLetchie reached double digits in kills for the 52nd time in her career, scoring 10 against the Badgers on Friday to lead Rutgers.
- Freshman setter Inna Balyko put up 22 assists to go with a kill, nine digs and three blocks.
- Set 1 | With Wisconsin up 8-3 following an early 7-1 run, Swackenberg turned brilliant defense into offense. The junior laid out for a diving dig, which spun over the net into open space for the Rutgers point.
- Set 2 | Rutgers' blocking unit was strong in the second set, when two straight – a Stackhouse/McLetchie combo and a Balyko solo job – started a 3-0 rally for a 6-4 lead.
- Set 2 | Balyko assisted kills by McLetchie and freshman outside hitter Tali Marmen during a 5-1 run to tie the set at 13-13. Freshman middle Merle Weidt's kill kept it tied at 15-15 before Wisconsin used an 8-2 spurt to pull away.
