PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers wrestling heads north this weekend, taking on Appalachian State and Utah Valley at the 2018 Journeymen Duals on Sat., Nov. 10 in Troy, N.Y. The Scarlet Knights will face Appalachian State at noon, immediately followed by Utah Valley at 2 p.m. Both matches will take place on Mat 4 of the Hudson Valley Community College gym and will stream live via FloWrestling.

WHAT TO KNOW
• The Scarlet Knights rolled in their 2018-19 season opener at the RAC last Saturday, sweeping their duals with Centenary (48-3), Fresno State (30-6) and Johnson & Wales (38-5). RU recorded 17 wins by bonus points in its quad meet, including 10 pins, six major decisions and a tech fall. In total, the program won 26 of its 30 individual bouts.
• Rutgers checks in at No. 15 in the first NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll, released on Tuesday. As a team, RU is also ranked No. 14/16 (dual/tournament) by Intermat, No. 14 by FloWrestling and No. 14 by TrackWrestling.
• Five individuals appear in the national rankings for Rutgers, including Stephan Glasgow (165), who is ranked No. 20 by The Open Mat and No. 23 by TrackWrestling for the first rankings of his career.
• Anthony Ashnault (149) and Nick Suriano (133) own Top-3 rankings in their individual weights, while John Van Brill (157) and Nicholas Gravina (184) also appear in individual rankings.
• Ashnault now sits at 94 career wins, needing six more to become the 17th wrestler in program history to join the 100-win club. Ashnault also needs 24 wins to pass Mike McHugh (1986-89) for the most wins in team history.
• Head coach Scott Goodale currently owns a 164-62-1 dual record in 12 seasons at Rutgers, needing three more victories to pass John Sacchi (1990-2006) for the most wins in program history.
SCOUTING APPALACHIAN STATE
• Appalachian State is currently receiving votes in the NWCA Coaches Poll after it was No. 25 to start the season.
• The Mountaineers opened the year at the Hokie Open on Sunday. The program had seven of its wrestlers place in the top six of the open division and three more place in the top five of the freshman/sophomore division.
• Under head coach JohnMark Bentley, Appalachian State secured SoCon regular season and tournament titles in 2017-18. It finished 9-4 in dual action with a 7-0 mark in conference.
• Appalachian State has three wrestlers on its roster with NCAA Championships experience – Irvin Enriquez (141), Alan Clothier (184) and Randall Diabe (197).
• This will be the first meeting between the two programs all-time.
SCOUTING UTAH VALLEY
• Utah Valley opened the season at the Cowboy Open on Saturday. With primarily backups and redshirts in attendance, a total of six grapplers earned podium finishes.
• Under head coach Greg Williams, the Wolverines finished 8-6 in dual action last season, which included a 4-4 mark in conference action.
• Utah Valley's roster features three wrestlers with NCAA championships experience, including Demetrius Romero (165), Kimball Bastian (174) and Tate Orndorff (HWT). Orndorff is a two-time qualifier.
• Bastian (No. 14), Orndorff (No. 19) and Romero (No. 16) all enter the weekend ranked in their respective weight classes by Intermat.
• In its only dual match against Utah Valley in program history, Rutgers defeated the Wolverines, 30-9, on Nov. 21, 2015.

Rutgers continues its dual schedule at Hofstra on Friday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. The Scarlet Knights will then close out the month at the Cliff Keen Invitational out in Las Vegas from Nov. 30-Dec. 1.
