PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers Athletics will celebrate the annual "National Girls and Women in Sports Day" on Monday, February 25 when the Scarlet Knight women's basketball team hosts Wisconsin.
Rutgers Athletics invites students from grades 1-12 from the State of New Jersey to participate in the NGWSD essay writing contest. All participants will receive two (2) free tickets to the Rutgers women's basketball game on February 25th against Wisconsin and invited to attend a pregame Q&A panel, participate in group experiences, receive a Rutgers t-shirt and be recognized at a timeout during the game.
- Who can participate? All New Jersey students in grades 1-12
- Writing requirements? All essays must be 500 words or less. Can be written or typed
- How can I submit my essay? All essays can be emailed to efalkof@scarletknights.com, mailed to Rutgers Athletics (Rutgers Athletic Center, Attn: Evelyn Falkof, 83 Rockafeller Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854), or dropped off at the box office at the Rutgers Athletic Center
- What is the deadline? Essays must be received by February 20th, 2019
- How do family members get tickets? Rutgers ticket office will follow up with a call to purchase additional tickets once the essay is received
- Where will we be seated? All essay participants and their family/friends who purchased tickets will be seated together in a general admission section.

Timeline on February 25th:
- 5:00-5:30 PM... Registration and check-in
- 5:30-6:30 PM... Pregame Q&A and on-court pregame experiences

National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) began in 1987 as a special day in our nation's capital to recognize women's sports. The day united premiere organizations and elite female athletes to bring national attention to the promise of girls and women in sports.
