
Huang to Compete at NCAA Regionals

Freshman all-arounder joins Rutgers contingent at Penn State
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Originally selected as an alternate, freshman Belle Huang is officially in an all-arounder at NCAA Regionals. She will joined fellow Rutgers gymnasts Libby Groden and Makenzey Shank at Penn State on Saturday at 4 p.m. Click here for the preview with links.
"I am excited for Belle to get an opportunity to get the experience of competing in the postseason," head coach Louis Levine said. "She has had a great couple of weeks of training and is ready to go out and compete tomorrow."
Huang will join No. 5 Florida in their rotation, starting on floor exercise. She will then move to vault, bye, uneven bars and balance beam.
The rookie competed 12 times this season with nine all-around outings. She ended with a 38.810 all-around Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) to merit first alternative to NCAA Regionals, with a high of 39.050 at Temple on March 11. Most recently, Huang recorded a 39.025 at Big Ten Championships for the highest score by a Scarlet Knight in four trips to the meet.
Huang posted 28 routines of 9.700 throughout the season with as high as 9.875 on vault and floor exercise, while reaching 9.850 on balance beam and 9.725 on uneven bars. She won the national championship on balance beam at the 2017 Junior Olympic Nationals held in Indianapolis.
