PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers field hockey is coming off a 2017 season that features a nine-win campaign, the team's most ever Big Ten wins, most ever ranked wins, and a burst into the national rankings, peaking as high as No. 18 in the nation. With the core of that team coming back, the squad is well positioned for immediate success this season.Â
With the graduation of just one starter, RU returns every player that scored a goal last season, 98 percent of its point scoring, and entire starting defense. Mix that with an influx of new talent and exciting hockey is on the horizon.
"I'm excited about the returning group," head coach
Meredith Civico said. "I think we've gained a lot of experience over the course of last season and throughout the spring. They've come back confident, they're playing well, and they've got a really good connection. They've taken the newcomers under their wing. It's been a pretty seamless transition for the freshmen coming in. We've got really good team chemistry.
