Berkeley, Calif. (Aug. 24, 2018) - Rutgers volleyball (0-2) dropped the Friday nightcap at Cal's Molten Classic to the host Golden Bears (2-0) at the Haas Pavilion by set scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-18.

KNIGHT NOTES

• In her second career match, freshman Anastasiia Maksimova received the most targets with 17 and bounced a team-high seven kills as a result.
• Junior middle blocker Stasa Miljevic made her first start of the year and produced six kills with five blocks, while fellow junior middle Jasmine Stackhouse had five and six, respectively.
• Freshman right side Anastasiya Kudryashova made her collegiate debut and threw down her first career block.
• Cal won this first-ever meeting between the two sides.

THE MOMENTS

• Set 1 | Stackhouse started RU off with two blocks and a kill for a 5-1 early lead, but a mid-set run of 5-0 and a 4-0 spurt to end the period gave Cal the 1-0 lead.
• Set 2 | Down 11-7, Rutgers got back in it with a 10-2 run fueled by junior middle blocker Stasa Miljevic's two blocks and a kill for the 17-13 lead. Cal immediately responded, however, with a 4-0 stint of its own to knot the set at 17-17 before ending the stanza on a 12-3 overall run.
