Tennis Opens Fall Campaign at the Brown Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers tennis begins its fall campaign at the Brown Invitational Sept. 21-23 in Providence Rhode Island. The 2018 fall slate includes four road invitationals, including the ITA Fall Championships.
THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
Rutgers returns five Scarlet Knights to the 2018-19 roster, including juniors Jaci Cochrane, Kat Musik and Kyra Yap, and sophomores Isabelle Da Silva and Maya Jacobs.
Last spring, Cochrane, Da Silva, and Jacobs all tied for the team lead with seven singles victories each in dual play. Cochrane recorded a flawless mark of 4-0 in tournament singles, winning the Singles Draw C title at the NJIT Invitational. The Fort Dodge, Iowa, native earned Big Ten Athlete of the Week honors for her performance.
The Scarlet Knights welcome three newcomers to the team in Tess Fisher, Sydney Kaplan, and Kristiana Zahare.
Fisher joins the program as a three-time National High School All-American and New Jersey State Champion out of Vineland. She was named the 2017 New Jersey High School Tennis Player of the year.
Kaplan hails from Montebello, New York, where she led Suffern High School to three consecutive conference championships. Zahare arrives from Riga, Latvia, where her career was highlighted as a semifinalist in both singles and doubles in ALK Open 2018 hosted in Kaarina, Finland.

Moving into October, RU continues its slate with trip to the Navy Invite set for Oct. 5-7. Next up, Rutgers is set for the ITA Championships from Oct. 11-16.
