Men’s T/F Claims Team Title at the TCNJ Lions Indoor Invitational

Scarlet Knights collect nine event titles to finish first
BRONX, N.Y. – Rutgers men's track and field collected nine event titles at the TCNJ Lions Indoor Invitational on Saturday evening at The Armory. The Scarlet Knights swept the long jump and 800m events, while placing first in the 4x400 and 4x800 team relays as well.
Rutgers finished first in the team standings with 218 points. Academy of Art followed in second place (78) and Manhattan came in third (76.5)
On the track, senior Izaiah Brown led the Scarlet Knights with two titles, including first place in the 200m and 400m. Sophomore Taj Burgess won the 500m title, while junior Jason Schweizer claimed the 800m title.
In field events, freshman A'Nan Bridgett claimed first in the long jump, junior Perry Christie collected the high jump title, and junior Tobi Tella placed first in the triple jump.
The 4x400m relay team consisting of Chris Jenkins, Alanzo Aris, Sterling Pierce and Burgess clocked a time of 3:13.72 to come in first.
The 4x800m relay team of Dimitri Demos, Jared Skalski, Eric Barnes, and Billy Hill finished first with a time of 7:58.41.
TRACK EVENTS
Brown the 200m title with a time of 21.04 and 400m title with a time of 47.43. Senior Alanzo Aris followed with a third-place finish in the 200m (21.87), while classmate Sterling Pierce placed third in the 400m (49.62).
Burgess placed first in the 500m with a time of 1:02.34, as sophomore Edwyn Pierre followed in third with a result of 1:06.03. Sophomore Christopher Jenkins followed in fourth for the Scarlet Knights.
Rutgers went 1-2-3 in the 800m with Schweizer (1:55.62) finishing ahead of sophomore Billy Hill in second (1:55.78) and junior Jared Skalski in third (1:56.64). Junior Sean Martinek, senior Ed Zaleck and sophomore Eric Barnes finished fourth, fifth and seventh, respectively.
Freshman Antonio Tarantino finished second in the 60m dash with a time of 6.93 to round out the Top 3 finishers on the track.
Additionally, freshmen Andrew Daniluk and Jameson Woodell represented RU in the 60m hurdles finals.
FIELD EVENTS
The Scarlet Knights swept the long jump for the second straight meet, as Bridgett finished first with a mark of 7.43m (24' 4.5"). Sophomore Qayyim Ali finished second (7.16m (23' 6") and sophomore Malachi Davis followed in the third (7.15m (23' 5.5")
In the high jump, Christie's result of 2.05m (6' 8.75") proved best in the event, while sophomore Semaj Willis came in second with a mark of 2.00m (6' 6.75"). Ali and Bridgett finished fourth and sixth in the event.
RU also took the top two spots in the triple jump with Tella taking first (15.28m (50' 1.75") and Davis finishing second (15.03m (49' 3.75") in the event. Senior Jairus Paul followed with a fourth-place finish.
Freshman Kamron Kobolak finished third in the shot put with a mark of 15.45m (50' 8.25").
TEAM RELAYS
The 4x400 relay team clocked a time of 3:13.72 to take the top spot. The 4x800 relay team also claimed first, crossing the line at the 7:58.41 mark.
UP NEXT
The Scarlet Knights return to New York on Saturday, Jan. 19 for the Penn 8-Team Select. The meet will take place at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
