Clarke Takes 60m Title at UPenn 8-Team Select

STATEN ISLAND, New York – Rutgers senior Oniesha Clarke led the Scarlet Knight women's indoor track and field team with a first place performance in the 60m at the UPenn 8-Team Select held on Saturday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Clarke, who was a finalist in the event at last year's Big Ten Championships, clocked in 7.64 for the top spot in the race.
Including Clarke's performance, Rutgers had 10 top eight finishes.
Freshman Iyanla Kollock took fourth in 7.79 in the 60m, while junior Lynnea Davis qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles, where she placed seventh overall with a time of 9.08. Meanwhile in the 3000m, sophomore Kaitlyn Bragen took eighth with a finish line time of 10:32.32.
The 4x400m relay team that included sophomore Kayla Jackson, senior Jenna Sobieski, freshman Mackenzie Prezume and senior Phyllis Gordon combined to take fourth place with a finish of 3:52.56.
Four Scarlet Knight jumpers logged top eight performances. In the high jump, redshirt junior Rhonda Rogombe reached a height of 1.63m (5' 6"), while sophomore Courteney Campbell cleared the bar at 1.6m (5' 6") to land in fifth and sixth respectively. Freshman Gabriela Sanchez reached a distance of 5.42m (17' 9.5") in the long jump and fellow classmate Zia Barr leapt to a distance of 10.86m (35' 7.75") in the triple jump as both took fifth in their respective events.
Freshman Zyra Thomas also brought home a top eight finish for the Scarlet Knights in the shot put with a throw of 12.91m (42' 4.25").
The Rutgers women's track and field team will return to competition at the Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University on Jan. 25-26.
