No. RV/21 Women's Soccer Travels to Penn State, Hosts Northwestern

PISCATAWAY, N.J. –  RV/21 Rutgers women's soccer travels to Penn State for its first road Big Ten match of the year on Thursday, Oct. 3. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET live on Big Ten Network.
 
The Scarlet Knights then return home to host the Northwestern Wildcats on Sunday, Oct. 6. As part of a doubleheader with Rutgers men's soccer, match time is set for 2 p.m. ET following the men's contest which begins at 11 a.m.

Admission is free for all of RU's home matches. Fans attending are asked to register for free parking by clicking here.
 
On Sunday, fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness day, presented by RWJBarnabas Health. Pink ribbons will be given to fans in attendance.
 
RV/21 RUTGERS QUICK STATS
  • Following three straight Big Ten contests at home, Rutgers (7-2-1, 1-2-0) gears up for its first road conference matchup of the year.
  • Despite freshman midfielder Julia Aronov scoring her second career goal, the Scarlet Knights comeback fell just short in a 2-1 decision with Maryland on Saturday. Rutgers only two losses this season have been decided by a single goal.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Meagan McCelland ranks 17th in the NCAA and second in the Big Ten with six shutouts. Junior forward Amirah Ali ranks 20th in the nation and second in Big Ten with three game winning goals on the year.
  • Rutgers' 0.571 GAA sits at 23rd in the nation and second in the Big Ten.
  • Rutgers is receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, having ranked as high as 13 this season. RU is also ranked No. 21 by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
SCOUTING PENN STATE
  • Penn State (6-5-1, 2-2-0) split its matchups last weekend, including a 1-0 win at Minnesota and 1-0 loss at then-No. 19 Wisconsin.
  • Ally Schlegel leads the team with eight goals and an assist.
  • Amanda Dennis has seen the most time in net for the Nittany Lions, maintaining a 0.78 GAA with 18 saves across seven games.
  • Since Rutgers entered the Big Ten in 2014, RU and PSU have met nine times across regular and postseason contests. The record between the squads in those matchups is tied a 3-3-3.
SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN
  • Northwestern (4-5-1, 2-1-0) picked up a pair of wins last weekend with a 1-0 victory at Nebraska and 2-1 win at Iowa.
  • Six different Wildcats have scored for NU this season, as Regan Steigleder leads the way with three points (1g, 1a).
  • In net, Mackenzie Wood is averaging a 1.38 GAA with 34 saves across 10 matches.
  • Rutgers leads the series with Northwestern, 3-2-1. The teams met last October, when RU earned a 1-0 win in overtime.
  • Northwestern hosts Purdue on Thursday before its visit to Rutgers.
