No. 18 Field Hockey Heads to Iowa City for Contests with No. 7 Iowa, UC Davis

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 18 Rutgers field hockey hits the road for a pair of games this weekend in Iowa City, Iowa. The Scarlet Knights first face off against No. 7 Iowa on Friday at 3 p.m. Then on Saturday, the team has a neutral site contest against UC Davis at 1 p.m.

Rutgers Season Stats
Rutgers currently owns a 4-4 record, with their last win coming over No. 6 Princeton. In their most recent outing, the Scarlet Knights were edged out by No. 4 Maryland, with Tayla Parkes netting the lone goal. Gianna Glatz recorded eight saves against the Terps.
Iowa is the third straight ranked opponent Rutgers will face. Last season, RU earned its second ever top-ten win with a home shutout of the Hawkeyes, a 1-0 victory. It was the third straight victory in the series over the Hawkeyes, with IU nationally ranked in each of those contests. Iowa leads the all-time series 6-3-1.

Iowa enters the contest at 7-2 and on a three-game win streak. The Hawkeyes last shut out Michigan State on Sunday, winning 5-0 at home behind three goals from Ellie Holley. The Hawkeyes also defeated No. 14 Ohio State last weekend, winning 2-1.
Iowa has three players sharing the team lead in goals as Sophie Sunderland, Katie Birch and Maddy Murphy each have five goals. Goalkeeper Leslie Speight has allowed just 10 goals in nine games.
UC Davis Season Stats
The Aggies are 5-3 on the season, with each of their three losses coming by just one goal (all were 2-1 scores). UC Davis has allowed just seven goals in eight games for a 0.88 goals-against-average. This is the first ever matchup between the two schools.
