Oskar Palmquist Signs with Rutgers Men’s Basketball

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's basketball head coach Steve Pikiell announced today that Oskar Palmquist has signed to compete at Rutgers University. The native of Kinna, Sweden brings international competition experience to the Scarlet Knights.

"We are very excited to officially welcome Oskar to the Rutgers family," head coach Steve Pikiell said. "Oskar is a 6'8" versatile, athletic and tough player with a tremendous basketball IQ. The combination of his skillset and work ethic excites us greatly. He is a member of the Swedish national team and his experience competing at the international level has prepared him well to come in and compete in the Big Ten. His athleticism and ability to shoot the ball are really exciting to us with his ability to score at all three levels."

"He's a creator, he's a playmaker, he is a decision maker," said Michael Bree, who coached Palmquist in Sweden. "He's a guy who plays hard for his team and contributes on many different levels. He has the character and work ethic to constantly improve and get better. He has a very high basketball IQ. The style of game that Rutgers plays fits him, with the combination of shooting and driving, his game will translate and be a fit there."
